CRYPTOCORYNE SPIRALIS  

1. Spiralis (scientific name: Cryptocoryne Spiralis), the most renowned species, attracts your attention by its loose corkscrew shape of green to brownish leaves gathered in a rosette, and swaying gracefully underwater. C. Spiralis is not a demanding species. Mainly found in coastlands of rivers and streams in Asia, these paludal plants prefer light silty nutrient rich substrates along with weak acid to a slightly alkaline environment. C. Spiralis grows best in low to moderate light tanks. CO2 additive is optional; however, your plants will yield better with it. 
2. spiralis can be planted solitarily or in groups. They are also known for shooting off runners all over other parts of your tanks hence, creating a bushy effect to your aquarium. C. Spiralis don’t like being moved once planted so if can, you should not move them. They grow slowly but in a steady way. On a further note, you should not cause any drastic changes in your aquariums. Unstable parameters can result in melting and rotting in your live aquatic plants.

Tall as it is, C. Spiralis is commonly placed in the mid-or background. You may find a slight difference between the submerged leaves and the emerged ones. The former will be tall and slender while the later grows considerably shorter with broader leaves.

Like other aquatic plants, C. Spiralis will create proper areas (in between their leaves) for your fish to splash around in addition to aesthetic purpose.
